Pootler's Birthday Club, Stampin' Up!

Pootlers Birthday Blog Hop

I decided to take part in this month’s Birthday Club as it had been some time since I last did it.

The card I’m sharing with you today was made for my mother-in-law’s birthday.

I absolutely love the Whole Lot of Lovely DSP and I chose one of my favourite designs for this card. I thought the Tranquil Tide and Pool Party combo worked really well together with this design.

I used the Stylized Birthday stamp for the sentiment and Lots of Labels Framelits. I stamped the image onto Whisper White cardstock, using Pool Party ink and cut out the sentiment. I moved the die further along the die cut and cut it again, giving me a smaller layer so that I could use the same size die for a Pool Party mat.

I then used Wink of Stella to go over the sentiment, although it doesn’t show on the photos.

I adhered the DSP onto the Tranquil Tide mat and added Pool Party ribbon then adhered this to a Pool Party card base. Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, I raised the sentiment on the front of the card and added a bow. I also added hearts from the Subtles Enamel Shapes.

So it’s my turn to take part in the Pootles Birthday Club which can only mean one thing – yes it’s my birthday this month. Actually it’s next week so for once I have a birthday card made ahead of time & not the day before as usual. I did think it was a little weird to be making myself a card but at least this way I know it will be a card I love & probably the only handmade one I’ll receive.

So for this card I thought I would use a colour combo that I’ve not used before which was Smoky Slate and Island Indigo. I wasn’t sure it would work but once I put the Melon Mambo flower on top everything just seemed to go so well together.

I inked the flower using basic grey ink but stamped off first to give a lighter finish. I then watercoloured the flower using the aquapainters and I used the ink pads as my medium, I then fussy cut the flower out of shimmery white cardstock.
